As I was sitting down to work on this week’s Word of the Week – Serendipity, when I received a "good fortune" video from a friend I hadn't heard from in months. She is a beautiful and wonderful human being, struggling with various health challenges, yet she still communicates with those she loves by sending meaningful and relevant information. It felt like a total act of serendipity that she sent this video, filled with wonderful examples of serendipity at work, just when I needed it most.
Serendipity, as defined above, is “the phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for.” This perfectly describes what happened when I received the video, which I hope you will take the time to view on YouTube.
I often ask God to confirm that the word He has given me is the “one.” I do not believe in luck or coincidence. I believe that my faith in God grants me access to serendipity, resulting in blessings that arrive precisely when needed. It's like finding a #2 pencil on the ground just when you realize the one you needed for your test was left at home. Or taking what you thought was the wrong train, only to discover it was the only one that could get you to your interview on time. Or meeting good people who address a need you didn't even know you had. These moments turn tough situations into blessed ones, exemplifying what serendipity is all about.
Acts of kindness, love, and mercy are some of the most beautiful examples of serendipity for those who receive them. In each instance, the people in need weren't or do not ask for help, but God chose those willing to provide just what was needed. While the video mentions sending donations, I am not endorsing or encouraging that. I am sharing it as a beautiful example of the word “serendipity.”
I encourage us all to be open to becoming blessings for others so that we can, in turn, receive blessings we didn't even know we needed.
Please feel free to view the attached video. It was serendipity that brought it to me, and now I share it with you!   Click below or go to the link in the podcast notes.
God didn’t add another day to your life because you needed it. He added it because someone needed u. (youtube.com)
